Modern Lochcarron Hunting  Heavy Weight Tartan. Our company started weaving tartan at North Strome, Lochcarron, in the late 1940s, and since that time we have woven tartans at Lochcarron for Clans and families wherever Scots people settled throughout the world. It should have come as no surprise to us when it was pointed out that the residents of Lochcarron District had expressed a desire to have a tartan created to recognise the area and its association with tartan manufacture. The Lochcarron tartan was duly created with three colourings "modern", "ancient" and "weathered" of the hunting (green) version, and of the dress (red). As Lochcarron is located in what was "Ross and Cromarty" we chose to adapt the hunting Ross tartan adding blue to indicate the strong influence of the sea to the life of the area. All versions of Lochcarron were introduced in 1982.
